We love almond butter. It is delicious, healthy and it keeps us feeling cozy when it comes to cold days. One of our favorite ways to use it is in smoothies. For a quick and nutritious breakfast treat we simply whip up one in no time! For more about raw almond butter, read this article.

Just a short while ago, this was rather sad news. As usual, my little sister scooped out the last bit of almond butter from an almond and quickly nonchalantly said, "Why don t you just make any?" It s just nuts, right? Wrong!

The great thing about using this homemade almond butter is that it is loaded with nutrients and vitamins. Like most nuts, almonds are loaded with protein, which helps us build muscle building fibers. They also contain an impressive amount of potassium, which balances our electrolytes and maintains healthy heart functions. Finally, almonds are loaded with fiber, giving us that wonderful feeling of fullness after a meal.

Since we love using peanut butter and its glorious sidekick of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, we thought it would be fun to try to combine these two favorites to create another delicious breakfast treat. By substituting one cup of almond butter for one cup of your favorite jam or peanut butter sandwich spread, we reduced the number of calories in our morning oatmeal by almost twenty percent! Not only did we reduce the number of calories in our morning oatmeal, but we also reduced the amount of calories in several of our other favorite oatmeal products as well. To reduce the number of calories we ate from breakfast, lunch and dinner, we replaced our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with whole wheat English muffins, reduced the amount of sugar and calories in our coffee and we bumped up the amounts of nuts in our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to make them a little more delicious. By substituting one third of a cup of jam or peanut butter with almond butter, we cut our total calories by nearly twenty percent. It may not seem like much, but when you combine the effects of one tablespoon of almonds with nearly a quarter of a cup of low fat Mayo or any type of cream cheese - which has almost forty calories and a little over three tablespoons of sugar - you can see considerable weight loss! Changing one food alone can really add up.

There is no better way to start the day than with a glass of raw almond butter on toast. The benefits of this amazing nut are many and it's not just about reducing calories. Almonds are packed with fiber, magnesium, protein and omega fatty acids - which mean you will feel great, be more energetic and enjoy a healthier diet overall! You can learn more about this topic here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almond_butter.
