Nut Butter Shop - A Review

The Nut Butter Shop is located on Grand Avenue in New York City, and I have a very small amount of experience with the food that is served there. My sister and I were introduced to it when we went to visit my grandmother in October of 2006. We were immediately fans (and have been ever since!). I have enjoyed many visits over the past few years and now plan to do so again soon!

As the sun falls over the Nut Butter Shop at 11am each day, the sweet smell of warm chocolate begins to fill the air. At first I was confused by the large assortment of nuts - from peanuts to cashews to walnuts. But then I realized it was just a matter of choosing the ones I liked best! This seemed to open people's eyes a little bit as they were pleasantly surprised that there were so many delicious varieties, making the decision for me not much of a challenge!

These were easily my favorite three nut brands, and I frequently asked for a new batch to try. Unfortunately, these flavors rarely change, so you're stuck eating the same thing all day long. It seems the companies are more interested in making money than in providing customers with quality snacks. The other three seem to vary slightly, though all taste great. During my time at the Nut Butter Shop I also tried several samples of other "healthy" nuts such as pecan, cashew, almond, and others. I was surprised how different they tasted, although some were almost identical to the ones in Nut Butters. Some brands I didn't care for were: cashew, almond, cherry almond, coconut, rice bran, triticale, pecans, walnuts, and pistachios. I don't claim to be an expert, but I do admit to being a bit overwhelmed at the sheer number of options available. I ended up trying most of them!

My final impressions were that while the packaging was attractive and fun, the nuts themselves were a bit underwhelming. I think if I had opted for a package of regular butter, I would have been much more pleased. It's hard to say for sure, because all nuts go best with certain things, but my general experience is that people enjoy flavored nuts better than flavored nuts. The bags of Nut Butters that I bought didn't come with nuts. I guess they thought it would be more fun to have a jar full of something already flavored instead of going out and buying several boxes of regular butter. I suppose that's a valid point!

Overall, I would recommend the Nut Butter Shop, and I might even return. Their prices are very reasonable, and the variety is awesome. I get a handful of oddballs here and there, and even occasionally some really strange flavor combinations! If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend checking out the nut butters at the Nut Butter Shop. Check out this post: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nut_butter  that has expounded on the topic.
